Visit North Macedonia

North Macedonia, previously known as "The (former Yugoslav) Republic of Macedonia" is a growing tourist destination, with much to offer. The capital Skopje, though resplendent with new "modern eclectic" architecture, has managed to preserve its historic Old Town with its large bazaar. Neighboring Matka Canyon makes for a wonderful day trip, but many people head straight to Ohrid, a charming town located on Lake Ohrid, a charming lake that forms part of the border with Albania. The lakeside town packs a lot of history into a small space too, including an ancient Greek theater.
